Niko Arthur Isaac
Niko is a graduate of the University of Leeds and a Barrister-at-Law (Gray’s Inn) in the United Kingdom. He joined Tito Isaac & Co LLP in 1999, initially as a Corporate Manager, and then as a solicitor after being called to the Singapore Bar in 2002.
Legal advisor to a property group
Having established and operated a trading business as well as acted as a legal advisor to a property group prior to joining the Firm, Niko brings with him vital business acumen to his work and a critical dimension of commercial experience covering comprehensive areas of work. His legal research and information management work is essential to the Firm’s preparation of joint venture contracts, a range of commercial transactions andcorporate litigation proceedings as well as within the realm of Banking Law.
In particular, Niko’s commercial litigation experience includes contract, shareholder disputes, intellectual property (patents, trademark, trade name and unfair competition), guarantees, employment disputes, insolvency, commercial real estate, tort and defamation.
In 2004, Niko was involved in an International Arbitration before a three-man arbitration tribunal on behalf of a Malaysian Government linked company. Apart from his wide regional experience, Niko has participated in the research, getting up and argument preparation in the High Court and Court of Appeal for a critical issue of law relating to Financial Trade Services. He has also acted in large and contentious personal injury claims involving minors where liability and quantum were in dispute.
Most notably, in a successful appeal for our client, Niko spearheaded the course of action, research and analysis of the case, winning for them the right to claim payment with accrued interest, and costs. This suit became a landmark case in Singapore’s Contract Law, Banking Law and Civil Procedure, as it was the first time a decision was made on the issue of nullity exception in a Singapore court.
With his astute understanding of complex commercial matters, dedication and thoroughness, Niko has secured the trust of many longstanding clients, thus playing a pivotal role in the Firm’s maturing status and growing presence in the region. Moreover, he also specialises in Family Law, where his empathy, sensitivity and patience has won him many clients in the matters of divorce, maintenance and custody.
